Week 7:

Hi everyone!

Beginning on Monday April 27th, our Elementary P.E. department will be transitioning to "Google Classroom" in order to be able to better serve our students. However, we will continue to use and refer to this website to offer additional content, activities and support. Each student will receive a "CODE" from their classroom teacher, enabling them to join their P.E. Google Classroom. If you have additional questions or are experiencing difficulty accessing the material in Google Classroom, please contact your P.E. teacher.

Please visit our "homepage" for contact information as well as additional instructions and details.

Don't forget to send us a picture or brief video clip if you can! See the homepage for instructions!

Monday April 13

While keeping your feet off the floor (note: someone could hold them similar to the picture, or if you are working by yourself you could keep them up on a chair or couch), see how quickly you can complete a puzzle, stack cups, draw a picture or any other ideas you might have! Time yourself to see how quickly you can complete the task. If possible, challenge someone that you live with!!

Cup throw & catch!

Try to throw and catch a small ball to a partner by using only cups (that are safe and that won't break). When you catch the ball in your cup you cannot move. Only the person without the ball can move. See how far down a sidewalk, backyard or any space you can make before the ball gets dropped! If working by yourself, toss the ball into the air and freeze once you catch it! See how far you can travel before the ball drops! Good luck!

Wednesday April 15

52 card pick-up!

Using a deck of cards, complete the exercise (using the information below):

  • Hearts = "Jumping jacks"
  • Diamonds = "Shoulder taps"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOCn3_iOAro

  • Spades = "Mountain climbers"
  • Clubs = "Burpees"

Instructions:

  • 2-9 means the # of exercises performed equals the number on the card (i.e., 2 of hearts equals 2 jumping jacks).
  • Jack, queen and king equal 15 repetitions of the assigned exercise.
  • Ace equals 1 or 20, depending on the age of the kids playing.
  • Joker equals 25 repetitions or a lap running around the house. (There are only 2 jokers.)

Thursday April 16

Indoor shuffleboard!

Using some tape, a few bean-bags or stuffed animals, turn your hallway into your own shuffleboard playing area!

Using your imagination, tape different areas and shapes (each with a different point value). Note - be sure not to write on the floor or use tape that's too sticky! Then tape an area that the players must stand behind. Object of the game is to slide your beanbag or stuffed animal and have it stop on the spot to collect a point (at the end of the round). Take turns.....remember, you can try to knock your opponents point off!

Be creative and have fun!

Friday April 17

Laundry-basket corn hole!

For this activity you will need a laundry basket and 3 pairs of socks rolled into a ball (per player).

Instructions:

Each player attempts to throw 3 balls (made from rolled socks) into the laundry basket. Take turns alternating throws between players.

Once all players have thrown all 3 pairs of socks, you must determine the score. Scoring works similar to the game corn-hole. Only the player with the highest score at the end of the round collects any points.

Ex, if Billy scored all 3 pairs of socks and Jimmy only scored one.....Billy's score at the end of the round is 2 (since 3-1 = 2). The next round begins with Billy (since he won the previous round) and he begins the game with a sore of 2-0.

Please review the link (below) for a refresher on how to properly throw (underhand and overhand).
