Plains
The Plains biome was the first biome ever added to Minecraft, even before the Forest biome.Â
Structures: You will often find villages here because it is nice and flat. You can also find Pillager Outposts, Ruined Portals, Mineshafts, and Strongholds. Now, these structures can generate in almost any biome, but the Plains are no exception.
Features: Plains biomes have few trees but often generate near a forest. They are nice and flat, so they are a good place to settle.
Mobs
Plains are home to many iconic passive mobs, such as cows, pigs, and chickens. Below is a list of mobs that can be found in this biome.
cow
pig
sheep
chicken
horse
donkey

Desert
The Desert biome is not a good place to live in, unless you make your base on the edge with a plains and/or forest biome nearby.
Structures: Deserts are home to some biome specific structures such as desert wells, which are basically useless, desert temples (only found in mesas and deserts), and villages, which are only found in plains, deserts, taigas, savannas, and snowy plains.
Features: very barren, with a few hazardsÂ
Mobs
Deserts are home to very few mobs, with many mobs only spawning in the desert.Â

Forest
This is another common and iconic biome that is a good place for a base. They provide lots of wood, can have very good caves, and have lots of flowers (not a big deal but for some reason people like dying stuff), and also have many passive mobs.

sheep
cow
wolf
pig
chicken
OK, those were the most iconic and common biomes, but there are many more, so here is an identification key for less common ones.
