Black Stripe Career fair

The career fair will give a chance for Black and LGBTQ+ students to meet and network with Black queer professionals in and around the Washington, DC area. It is also a chance to explore and support Black and LGBTQ+ owned businesses in the area!

There will be a very wide range of career paths represented. Check out the list below to see who is attending!

R. Eric Thomas (He/Him)

Guest Author

R. Eric Thomas, celebrated author of Kings of B'More and Here For It will be joining us at Black Stripe to share his personal journey as a writer and host a book signing.

Thomas has worked as a mentor for students in Howard County through the Navigating the Margins program and was a recent speaker at Books in Bloom in Columbia, MD.

Jabari lyles (they/them)

Principal Consultant/ Executive Director

Jabari has worked as an educator, nonprofit organizer, host, consultant, keynote speaker, and more! They have TONS of wisdom and advice to share with Black queer youth, regardless of your career path.

jade lopez case (she/her)

Ocean Engineer

Jade Case is an Ocean Engineer and PhD student at the University of Rhode Island. She has presented in conferences around the world and is currently furthering her research with the Naval Research Lab. She is a wonderful mentor for LGBTQ+ Black and Latino youth looking to pursue a career in STEM.

Nailah Phillips (she/her)

Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT)

Nai is an RBT who works directly with children on the spectrum to improve their cognitive, social, and fine motor skills. She earned her degree in Social Work and has worked in a variety of environments to support various youth populations. She is an excellent role model for anyone looking to pursue social work, psychology, or any kind of youth advocacy.
