Communities of Practice

Communities of practice are formed by people who engage in a process of collective learning in a shared domain of human endeavor. In this shared domain, participants meet regularly to discuss a specific concern or issue and learn how to better understand or address this concern or issue. The AI Community of Practice is intended to be an engaging and mutually supportive community of faculty (and faculty-adjacent professional staff). The community addresses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its many ethical and pedagogical challenges for faculty in all disciplines. Other areas include

• What is AI and what role is it playing in our classrooms, sanctioned and otherwise?

• What tools, practices, and strategies might we use in our teaching and assessment practices to redress the problems of AI? 

• Should we be harnessing AI as a pedagogical tool, and if so, how do we do this ethically and effectively?
