The Department of Nursing offers various resources to nursing students.
Career and Transfer Fairs
Throughout the academic year, students will have the opportunity to engage with different career and educational opportunities.
Simulation Laboratory Remediation
Faculty work with students to help remediate learned skills to help them succeed in program competencies and in the clinical practice settings.
Individualized Advising
Students are required to schedule a meeting with their assigned nursing faculty advisor to check in about their progress, deepen their understanding of the material, and talk about next steps in their nursing career.
Individualized Meetings with Faculty
Students have access to faculty to brainstorm solutions to personal and academic challenges and get connected to appropriate resources.
Nursing Resource Coordinator
The nursing department Nursing Resource Coordinator is Dee Westcott. They can provide advising in terms of organization, study prep, test prep, accessing HCC resources, student peer mentoring, mediated learning and more!

Nursing Resources Canvas Page
Nursing students have access to a Nursing Resources Canvas page. This is a repository of resources, curated materials, transfer and job information, and more. This content is updated weekly.
Open Simulation Laboratory
Open sim lab is offered by the simulation staff and the nursing resource coordinator for nursing students to practiceand master learned basic to complex nursing skills.
Additional Nursing Resources
Nursing students have the opportunity to work with the resource coordinator, simulation staff, nursing faculty and fellow students outside of class and lecture. They engage in meaningful discussions, develop a deeper understanding of the course material, and apply their understanding in meaningful ways.
You will need to schedule ahead of time to participate in or meet with any of the nursing resources offered.

Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS)
Students are encouraged to go to the CAPS tutoring center to review, ask questions, create a study plan, get a learning coach, and more!
