Critical Skills and Digital Literacy Series: Learn effective ways to foster your students' critical thinking and digital literacy skills in these workshops. 

• Opening Digital Doors Series: Resilience, Reading/Writing Tasks

Adult educators can support their learners’ reading and writing skill development across a wide range of contexts and digital formats. This workshop explores edtech routines that promote the critical digital literacy skills adult learners need to increase their reading and writing fluency while supporting workforce preparation and success in today’s digital world. Participants will also consider the growing role of AI-enabled tools in digital communication and literacy, helping learners use these technologies thoughtfully and effectively as part of broader digital literacy instruction. 

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

• Identify the intersection of reading and writing instruction, digital literacy, and workforce preparation

• Make use of edtech tools and instructional routines to transfer reading and writing strategies to authentic digital workplace, community, and academic tasks, including the thoughtful use of AI-enabled tools where appropriate

• Support learners’ creation of digital products that demonstrate their proof of learning during reading and writing tasks while building the digital literacy skills needed for workforce readiness and lifelong learning

•  Opening Digital Doors Series: Resilience,Speaking/Listening Tasks

This session maps digital skills and tools to instructional routines through the lens of content, process, and product, helping ELA, ESOL, and Math instructors expand their learners' aural and oral communication skills while building digital and AI literacy. Participants consider how focused listening, data gathering surveys, and team tasks can deepen content knowledge, strengthen communication skills, and support digital literacy development across all three instructional contexts.

  Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:Identify the intersection of speaking and listening instruction, digital literacy, and authentic workplace, community, and academic communication tasks

• Use instructional technology tools and effective teaching routines to help learners apply speaking and listening strategies to digital communication tasks, including those that may involve AI-supported technologies

• Design learning experiences which enable adult learners to create digital products demonstrating their speaking and listening skills while building digital communication practices that support workforce readiness and lifelong learning
