Outline the information you obtained from Market Research Analysis and how it influenced your Marketing Mix
As part of my research, I conducted both desk and field research. I decided to carry out desk research because it is accurate and quick. The desk research I conducted was researching online to see my competitors and finding out information for example prices and quantity. Also, I looked up the possible places to sell my product. For my field research I conducted a survey and carried out an interview with the Covid-19 lead workers in my school. As part of my production research, I also set up a sampling stall in school. As part of my desk research, I felt that it was important to research these companies online and I compiled the following information in relation to what they were offering their customers… • Frames4Ocasions. Selling Plain bottles for €5 without a scent. Also, they don’t come with a clip. (Local) • AsBeAu. Plain bottles for €6.50 without hand sanitizer. (Online) • Dollbeedesigns. Plain bottles for €4.50 without hand sanitizer (Online) • SimplyChelleShop. Personalized hand sanitizer bottle for €3.22 without a clip, hand sanitizer or a clip. (Online) Sanitizer Tastic produces a unique sanitizing product. Sanitizer Tastic is better than any of the above companies because my product is a customized scented hand sanitizer bottle with a picture or name. It’s unique selling point is that it is scented so this motivates customers to use it because the essential oils smell so nice. With the essential oil in the hand sanitizer, it also offers health benefits to the customer for example if the customer chooses lavender the health benefits it offers are as follows: soothing on the skin, calming and also hydrating. From my desk research I also researched possibly places to sell my product. I found out that I could not stock my hand sanitizing product in pharmacies under strict regulations. As a result of this obstacle, I had to improvise and think outside the box, so I came up with the idea of selling them in local nursing homes, grocery stores and health food stores. I went on google maps and looked for local grocery stores and local nursing homes and they all came up so I wrote a list and called into there establishment and gave them a sample and the I asked them would they be interested in having my product in stock in their establishment. Calling into these establishment was also part of my field research. The field research I conducted was a survey (See Appendices 1) As part of my production research I also set up a sampling stall in school with different hand sanitizers and different scents and I got feedback from the customers on which hand sanitizer is the best and what were the most popular essential oils. The most popular essential oils were lavender, peppermint, sweet orange, eucalyptus, and lemongrass. I conducted a survey and questioned several students and staff from school and from my community. You will see my survey in Appendices 1. I also held an Interview with the COVID-19 lead workers in school. I did this to find out information about hand sanitizer and which hand sanitizer is the safest to use. This meeting was very useful as it really helped deciding which hand sanitizer to use. My product was just going to be a plain bottle with a name and then from the survey I realised that my customers would like different essential oils. I was also not going to offer a refill service but from the survey I found out that I should offer a refill service. If I did not do the survey, I wouldn’t have known to make these changes and I wouldn’t know if I would have customers. So, the changes made to my product were offering a refill service and have the hand sanitizer scented in the bottles.
