Our Mission:

The Wallace Middle School Counselors are committed to implementing a Comprehensive Guidance Program that promotes student success, self-empowerment and excellence which prepares our students to become College and Career Ready. We are here to support and facilitate a focus on academic achievement, prevention and intervention activities, advocacy, and social/emotional and career development.

Confidentiality:

Counselors have a responsibility to protect the privileged information received through confidential relationships with students, the students’ parents or guardians and with staff. The professional school counselor reserves the right to consult with other professionally competent persons when this is in the student's best interest.

It is the counselor's responsibility to provide notice to students regarding the possible necessity for consulting with others. This confidentiality must not be abridged by the professional school counselor except where there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or to other persons.

Confidentiality creates and maintains trust for all students. Breaching confidentiality for non-emergency situations can be detrimental to a relationship.

Bullying:

If a student believes that he or she has experienced bullying or has witnessed bullying of another student, it is important for the student or parent to notify a teacher, school counselor, principal, or another district employee as soon as possible to obtain assistance and intervention. The school's administration will investigate any allegations of bullying or other related misconduct.

Counselors are not responsible for the investigation, the outcome, or any related tasks of bullying. Counselors are only available to provide social and emotional support to students affected by the situation.
