Forensics is a co-curricular activity that we participate in during the spring, and no, we're not dissecting dead bodies. Forensics is best defined as competitive speaking and acting, but as those involved in the activity know all too well it is so much more. Competing in Forensics opens up new worlds of possibilities for students. We work to actively foster a culture where we build strong communicators, and critical thinkers. Students will learn to adapt speeches, performances, and arguments for different audiences of people. Students will have the chance to express themselves and compete alongside some truly fierce competitors from all over Kansas and the United States. There are multiple different events that students can choose from, falling under the three categories of speech, debate, and interpretation. Those who wish to compete in speech events can choose from Informative, Original Oratory, Impromptu, and Domestic/International Extemp. If they're interested in the debate side of things they can choose from Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Congressional debate. Finally students who want to perform can compete in Humorous Interp, Dramatic Interp, Duo Interp, Programmed Oral Interp, Prose, and Poetry. No matter what you're interested in, Forensics is an activity that welcomes all.
