Android
Noun. a mobile robot usually with a human form. This is referring to a human skeletal structure and not necessarily facial resemblance to humans. Though there are examples of androids with human faces and features to make the robot appear more human.
Notable examples include C-3PO from the film series Star Wars(Pictured Below), Sophia the Robot, a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics in 2016(Pictured Below), and Ava a fictional android from the film Ex Machina(Pictured Below).
Bazooka
Noun. shoulder-type rocket launcher adopted by the U.S. Army in World War II. The weapon consisted of a smooth-bore steel tube, originally about 5 feet (1.5 metres) long, open at both ends and equipped with a hand grip, a shoulder rest, a trigger mechanism, and sights. Officially titled the M9A1 Rocket Launcher, it was called bazooka after a crude horn of that name used by radio comedian Bob Burns. It was developed chiefly for attacking tanks and fortified positions at short range.
The Bachelor
The American dating and relationship reality television series that debuted on March 25, 2002, on ABC. The show is hosted by Chris Harrison. The show's success has resulted in several spin-offs including The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, Bachelor in Paradise, Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, The Bachelor Winter Games, The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart, and The Bachelor Summer Games, as well as spawning many international editions of the shows.
The series revolves around a single bachelor who begins with a pool of romantic interests from whom he is expected to select a wife. During the course of the season, the bachelor eliminates candidates (see The elimination process) each week eventually culminating in a marriage proposal to his final selection. The participants travel to romantic and exotic locations for their dates, and the conflicts in the series, both internal and external, stem from the elimination-style format of the show.
Boot (to boot up a computer)
Verb. In computing, booting is the process of starting a computer. It can be initiated by hardware such as a button press, or by a software command. After it is switched on, a computer's central processing unit (CPU) has no software in its main memory, so some process must load software into memory before it can be executed.
Fake news
Noun. is a form of news consisting of deliberate disinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional news media (print and broadcast) or online social media. Donald Trump popularized the term "fake news" in this sense, regardless of the truthfulness of the news, when he used it to describe the negative press coverage of himself. In part, as a result of Trump's misuse, the term has come under increasing criticism, and in October 2018 the British government decided that it will no longer use the term because it is "a poorly-defined and misleading term that conflates a variety of false information, from genuine error through to foreign interference in democratic processes."
Genderqueer
An inclusive term that was coined in the early-mid 90’s. It refers to individuals whose identities exist beyond the binary. It can be an umbrella term for anyone between or outside male and female; refer to someone who alternates between the two, and ecompass folks who identify as a third gender, genderfluid, androgynous, Two-Spirit, pangender, and agender, just to name a few. https://www.them.us/story/inqueery-genderqueer
Hot Wheels
Hot Wheels is a brand of die-cast toy cars introduced by American toy maker Mattel in 1968. It was the primary competitor of Matchbox until 1997, when Mattel bought Tyco Toys, then-owner of Matchbox.
Many automobile manufacturers have since licensed Hot Wheels to make scale models of their cars, allowing the use of original design blueprints and detailing. Although Hot Wheels were originally intended for children and young adults, they have become popular with adult collectors, for whom limited edition models are now made available.
Judge Judy
Judge Judy is an American reality court show presided over by Judy Sheindlin(pictured below). The show features Sheindlin herself adjudicating real-life small claim disputes within a simulated courtroom set. Prior to the proceedings, all parties involved must sign arbitration contracts agreeing to Sheindlin's ruling, handling and production staff management. The series has been in first-run syndication and has been distributed by CBS Television Distribution since 1996.
Nonbinary
An umbrella term to describe any gender identity that does not fit into the gender binary of male and female. Nonbinary gender (also sometimes referred to as genderqueer) people may, for example, identify as having no gender, fall on a gender spectrum somewhere between male and female, or identify as totally outside binary gender identities.
Onion article
An American satirical digital media company and newspaper organization that publishes articles on international, national, and local news. Their articles cover current events, both real and fictional, parodying the tone and format of traditional news organizations with stories, editorials, and man-on-the-street interviews using a traditional news website layout and an editorial voice modeled after that of the Associated Press. The publication's humor often depends on presenting mundane, everyday events as newsworthy, surreal, or alarming.
An American social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website.
Registered members submit content to the site such as links, text posts, and images, which are then voted up or down by other members. Posts are organized by subject into user-created boards called "subreddits", which cover a variety of topics such as news, politics, science, movies, video games, music, books, sports, fitness, cooking, pets and image-sharing. Submissions with more up-votes appear towards the top of their subreddit and, if they receive enough up-votes, ultimately on the site's front page.
Ted Cruz
An American politician and attorney serving as the junior United States Senator for Texas since 2013.Cruz served as an adviser on the 2000 presidential campaign of George W. Bush, and became solicitor general of Texas in 2003. He won election to the U.S. Senate in 2012 with the support of the Tea Party, and went on to orchestrate a government shutdown in opposition to Obamacare. He was the runner-up for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2016 election. He is considered to be quite conservative and has similar views on immigration to Trump.
During his presidential campaign an internet meme became popular suggesting that Cruz was the Zodiac Killer, an unidentified Californian serial killer of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Cruz, born in 1970, could not have committed these murders, which began before his birth.
