Meet the Captain!
Extemporaneous Speaking (Extemp) is a public speaking event in which competitors prepare and memorize a seven-minute speech in thirty minutes. Speeches cover a variety of domestic and international topics including politics, economics, foreign policy, and social and justice issues. Throughout the season, not only do speakers enhance their ability to analyze the complexities of societal problems, but they also improve their ability to communicate their importance in an informative and persuasive manner. If you are interested in researching current events on a national and/or international scale and improving your ability to develop strong arguments quickly, then Extemp is the event for you! Practices are typically held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays!
