project for week 10

French Revolution Comic Strip Project:

  • Items Needed: A3 Paper with Comic Strips/Squares, Colours, Glue, and Scissors

1. Students will work in groups of 3.

2. Each group will have to create a comic strip about the French Revolution.

3. Each comic strip MUST HAVE 8 frames or "sequences" in chronological order.

4. Each comic strip MUST include at least 3 different key people from the French Revolution.

5. Each comic strip MUST include at least 4 major events from the French Revolution.

6. All of your comics MUST have a speech bubble or small explanation of what is happening in the frame.

7. Be creative and think outside the box! For example, if you would like to highlight the fact that Marie Antoinette cared more about fashionable gowns and wigs than the French people, you can turn her quote "Let them eat cake!" into a witty joke like "Let them eat jewels!" but still maintain the true sequence of events.

8. Each group will have to be able to explain the different frames of their comic strip.

9. I would like MOST of the project to be HAND-DRAWN and less printing, please (for creativity and to conserve paper).

10. We will work on the project the first lesson of the week. On the second lesson of the week, students will submit them according to the due dates provided below:

Due: 8B on Monday, 12/11/19 and 8Y on Thursday, 15/11/19.

Create your own Newspaper Article Project:

Due: 2nd Lesson of Week 4 (22/09-26/09/2019)

We've made a newspaper reflection. Now it's time to create an article ourselves for the "Greco-Roman Gazette"!

Items needed: A4 Paper (Coloured or White)

1. Select a person or event from the Ancient Greece and Rome reading.

2. Select a picture online or draw a picture of your person or event.

3. Write an article of at least 5 sentences. Some questions that you may answer: What years did this person live or rule? How did this person contribute to democracy? What did they do in Greece or Rome? If this person was alive today, what role might they play in the world? (For example, maybe Cleisthenes would make a good president in the U.S. because...) Why did you select this person or event?

4. Be sure that your article includes: the title, the author (that's YOU!), the date, your class section, the written article (5 sentences), your picture (printed or drawn), and the name of our newspaper "The Greco-Roman Gazette."

5. Put them all together on your A4 paper and get ready to present them to the class! The articles may be decorated to your liking as long as the decorations do not distract from the writing. Presentations will be a minimum of 2 minutes and also counted as a grade.
