Archaeological Site PowerPoint Presentation:

  • Students will work in small groups of 3-4
  • Emails and technology will be used to create a PowerPoint presentation on an archaeological site of the students' choice.

1. Students will create their own groups and choose an archaeological site that is under excavation or has been under excavation.

2. The PowerPoint will be 10 slides. All 10 slides need at least 1 picture:

  • Slide 1: Title, Names, Grades/Sections
  • Slide 2: Introduction of place and site
  • Slide 3: Historical Context of the time (what was happening during this time period around your site? What was the site used for? Are there any religious or cultural explanations for the site's existence?)
  • Slide 4: Create a timeline of 4 events about your site.
  • Slide 5: Who was the archaeologist who discovered or excavated the site?
  • Slide 6: What did this archaeologist learn from the site?
  • Slide 7: What does your group find interesting about your site?
  • Slide 8: Why is the study of this historical place important?
  • Slide 9: Conclusion (Why should people visit this historical place? Try to convince your classmates and share why you would like to visit this site).
  • Slide 10: State the resources used to find all the information for your PowerPoint. You do not need a picture for this slide.

Week 6 project:

Introduction to Economy Poster and Presentation

Items Needed: A3 Paper/Poster Board (White or Coloured)

1. Choose ONE topic: Goods and Services or Producers and Consumers

2. Create a poster of examples of your topic. Be sure your examples are visually organised and are labelled accordingly. Images may be drawn or printed, but please try to be CREATIVE!

3. Prepare a 2 minute presentation on your examples, explaining: How are your examples a "good and service" or a "producer and consumer"? How to your examples relate to the economy? How do your examples relate to the other topic? Why did you choose your examples?

4. Students may start on their project at home, but must complete the final details in class. Students will be given 5-10 minutes to complete it before the presentations.

5. Your presentation will be one grade and your poster will be one grade. Please submit your project on time. Late projects will face a deduction of 10% for each day it is late.

Newspaper Reflection #1

Topic: The Environment

Due: 2nd Lesson of Week 4 (22/09-26/09/2019)

1. Select an article about the environment from a credible news source. (Examples: Gulf Daily News, BBC, New York Times, CNN, Al Jazeera, articles MUST be in English).

2. Print or cut out the entire article and glue it into your notebook (including the following: title, website link, author, date published, and the name of the news source). Label your notebook with "Newspaper Reflection #1: The Environment."

3. Write (with a pen or pencil, NO TYPING) a 5 sentence reflection, including your thoughts on the article. What is the article about? How did the article make you feel? What is the problem discussed? Is there a solution to that problem?

4. Check your writing for any grammatical mistakes.

5. Reminder: Please follow the topic given. Ideas: Recycling, Eliminating the Use of Plastic, Pollution, Reusable Straws, Wildfires, etc.

Here is an EXAMPLE article: New Littering Fines in Bahrain from "ECO-Mena". Please do not use this example article as your homework reflection.
