We will cover the format of the exam in class during revision week, therefore, attendance is HIGHLY encouraged. Also, please use your notebooks as another resource to study for your exam and do not only rely on the flashcards especially for possible essay questions which require the skill of forming your own opinion and supporting it with evidence and facts from previous semester #1 lessons.

project for week 10:

3D Layers of the Earth or Volcano Project:

  • Items Needed: Depends on selection made by students and how they would like to "create" their project.
  • This is not a poster project (2D)! It MUST be 3 dimensional (3D)!

1. Students will work in pairs (and are free to choose their own partners). Students will have one day to prepare the project in class (the first lesson of the week), while the second lesson of the week will be presentations.

2. I suggest that students start on their projects at home in order to have some guidance from their parents. (If you are able to take photo evidence of you and your partner working on your project, like baking the cake or moulding clay, that would be great!)

3. Be sure to distribute the work evenly between the partners.

4. All layers of the Earth or the parts of the volcano MUST be properly labelled.

5. Students must also be able to explain their project in a brief 1-2 minute presentation.

Students MUST be prepared to submit their projects by the following dates:

  • Due: 6R on Wednesday, 14/11/19 and 6G on Thursday, 15/11/19.
  • Due: 6B on Tuesday, 13/11/19 and 6Y on Wednesday, 14/11/19.

week 4 project:

Create a Map of Your Neighborhood.

Due: 2nd Lesson of Week 4 (22/9-26/9/2019)

Items Needed: A4 or A3 Paper (white or coloured)

1. Think about the neighborhood you live in. Where is your house and the streets you take to get there everyday?

2. Draw a map of your neighborhood or area. Include the following: your house, the streets around your house, a significant place near your home (a cold store, hospital, restaurant, school, a park), 1 neighbor's house, a map key, a compass rose pointed in the correct direction (i.e. north, south, east, and west). The more details and places added to your map the better!

3. Make sure your map is coloured, labeled, and decorated in a way that is not distracting from the map itself.

4. Check for any spelling mistakes. Be sure to have your name, grade/section and the date on your map.

5. Get ready to present your map to the class! Each presentation will be at least 1-2 minutes long. The presentation will also be graded.
