Compared to last week, the children were full of energy and seemed to really enjoy themselves. They joked around with their friends and created a cheerful, relaxed atmosphere. They are also beginning to remember each other’s names and call out to their classmates.
The children especially enjoyed the “Konnichiwa” song. They sang the word “konnichiwa” loudly with confidence, although they have not yet memorized the rest of the lyrics. Please listen to it together at home and practice.
With their name cards, the children practiced recognizing their own names and answering questions such as “Kore Dare no? (Whose is this?)” by raising their hands and responding “Boku no!” or “Watashi no!” They also practiced tracing their names with the correct stroke order. Afterwards, Akane-sensei cut each name card into separate letters. The children were very excited to put the letters back together to form their own and their friends’ names.
We reviewed some classroom expressions such as “Tatte kudasai (Please stand up),” “Suwatte kudasai (Please sit down)” “Te wo agete kudasai (Raise your hand)” and “Mou ichido itte kudasai (Please say it again)” while focusing on the phrase “mou ichido” (once more).
As a review from last week, we practiced the words “umi” (sea), “suizokukan” (aquarium), and names of sea creatures such as whale, dolphin, crab, turtle, pufferfish, and octopus. The children also requested the popular song “Minami no Shima no Daiou” and happily sang along to the “Hamehameha” part.
For arts and crafts, we made octopuses. Together, we counted their eight legs, practicing the numbers 1 through 8 in Japanese. During the activity, the children also picked up the new word “chotto” (a little/just a bit), and enjoyed repeating it while saying things like “Cut here just a little bit.” They were excited to feel they had learned a new word.
Children who finished early practiced writing “tako” (octopus) in hiragana and did some coloring of octopus and takoyaki while reviewing color names.

先週とは全く様子が違い、みんなとても元気で楽しそうに参加してくれました。友達と冗談を言い合ったり、テンション高めで和気あいあいとした雰囲気の中、活動を進めることができました。仲間の名前も覚えてきて、呼び合う姿も見られます。
「こんにちは」の歌が気に入ったようで、「こんにちは」のところは大きな声で元気よく歌っていました。まだ全部の歌詞は覚えていないので、お家でもゆっくり聴きながら練習してみてください。
名前カードを使って、自分の名前を認識したり、「これ、誰の？」と聞かれて「私の」「僕の」と答える練習をしました。さらに、名前を正しい書き順でなぞる練習も行いました。その後、茜先生がみんなの名前カードをバラバラに切り離すと、大盛り上がり！自分や友達の名前の文字を探して順番に並べる活動を楽しみました。
表現の復習では「立ってください」「座ってください」「手を挙げてください」「もう一度言ってください」を取り上げ、「もういちど」という言葉にも慣れていきました。
また、先週の復習として「うみ」「すいぞくかん」や海の生き物の名前（くじら、いるか、かに、かめ、ふぐ、たこ など）を学び直しました。歌では「南の島の大王」が人気で、「ハメハメハを歌いたい！」というリクエストもありました。
工作ではタコを作りました。タコの脚を数えながら「１から８」までの数の練習をしました。「ここをちょっと切ってね」といったやり取りの中で「ちょっと」という新しい表現にも触れ、子どもたちは「新しい言葉を覚えた！」と喜んでいました。
時間が余ったお友達は「たこ」と書いたり、タコやたこ焼きの色塗りをしながら色の名前を復習しました。
元気いっぱい、笑顔いっぱいで楽しく過ごせた一日になりました。ぜひお家でも復習してみてください。

It was wonderful to see the children actively trying out Japanese by repeating the words and expressions we used. We could really feel their potential for future growth.
In the first half, we practiced greetings and self-introductions, sang the “Konnichiwa” song, and worked on remembering each other’s names. The children also wrote their own names and made name cards.
In the second half, we learned the words “umi” (sea) and “suizokukan” (aquarium), as well as the names of sea animals. We played a fishing game, made origami whales, and created our own aquariums.
Through games and crafts, the children also used words and expressions such as colors, “kudasai,” “douzo,” “arigatou gozaimasu,” “kou?” (“like this?”), “kaite” (“write”), “ironutte” (“color it”), “kitte” (“cut”), “hatte” (“paste”), “nori” (“glue”), and “hasami” (“scissors”).
We also practiced classroom instructions like “tatte kudasai” (“please stand up”), “suwatte kudasai” (“please sit down”), “te o agete kudasai” (“please raise your hand”), and “mou ichido itte kudasai” (“please say it again”).
At home, please review:
– Names of sea animals and colors.
Starting next week, please:
– Have your child wear socks.
