Players and parents are accountable for their behavior before, during, and after games and practices. The following has been listed to assist players and parents to know what is appropriate and what is unacceptable.
I will applaud and show respect during the introduction of athletes, coaches, and officials.
I will remain quiet and respectful during prayer and the National Anthem.
I will accept all decisions made by game officials.
I will shake hands with participants and coaches after the game, regardless of the outcome.
I will show concern for an injured athlete from either team.
I will encourage others to demonstrate sportsmanlike conduct.
I will show respect for each participating school, its athletes, coaches, and fans.
I will maintain self-control at all times.
I will recognize and appreciate skill and effort from any team.
I will not use disrespectful, derogatory, profane, or taunting language.
I will not make racial, ethnic, or sexual remarks.
I will not engage in retaliatory or unsportsmanlike cheers, even if provoked.
I will not enter the playing area or interfere with the game unless authorized.
I will not throw objects onto the court/field or towards players, coaches, or officials.
I will not boo, heckle, or display anger toward an official’s decision.
I will not refuse to shake hands or recognize good performance.
I will not blame a loss on officials, coaches, or teammates.
I will not use unapproved noisemakers at events.
I will not show disrespect or hostility toward anyone involved in the game.
I will not use or promote performance-enhancing drugs while part of HMA athletics.
The HMA community and spectators are expected to abide by the same guidelines as the athletes and parents of athletes. By reflecting a Christ-centered atmosphere and promoting a positive reputation for Hawaiian Mission Academy, spectators become an important part of the athletic program. We encourage the attendance and support of the community. All spectators are bound to the aforementioned code of conduct.
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in removal from the game or event, suspension from future attendance, or other actions deemed appropriate by the Athletic Director and school administration.
Students – May be escorted out of the gym and have their attendance at future events reviewed.
Student-Athletes – May be removed from the game and face further review for possible suspensions in accordance with school and league rules.
Parents/Spectators – May be asked to leave campus and have their future attendance reviewed.
The officials, gym manager, or Athletic Director have the authority to stop a game at any time to address behavior that threatens the safety or integrity of the event.
