WHAT
NHSEMP: A Freshman Bridge program offered at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
Participate in STEM research in state-of-the-art research facilities.
Work with University of Hawaii STEM faculty, researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students.
Explore the connection between STEM and Hawaiʻi's culture through hands-on activities and site visits.
Earn University-level course credit for HWST 107, satisfies H graduation requirement.
Learn to navigate the extensive University of Hawaiʻi system and identify student resources.
Provide a smooth transition from high school to college.
WHO
Spaces are available for traditional incoming, UH Mānoa first-year students interested in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
WHEN
June 23 - August 14, 2025 (8 weeks)
WHERE
2025 NHSEMP Freshman Bridge takes place on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus (in-person).
Transportation will be provided by the program for any program off-campus site visits, service learning, or other.
COST
No application fee. Students will need to cover any required course textbook expenses.
Freshman Bridge is funded through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Hawaiʻi Pacific Foundation and National Science Foundation-IOA LSAMP grants.
