HIPHI is excited to announce the Give Back, Get Back Education Loan Repayment Program, an opportunity aimed at reducing the student debt burden for Hawai‘i’s professionals serving in critical public health roles.
The program, launched in partnership with the Department of Health, will offer up to $25,000 in student loan forgiveness for eligible individuals. To qualify, applicants must have one year of full-time work experience in the public health sector within Hawai'i and have student loan debt.
Application deadline is October 15th.
Applicants must provide proof of employment from a qualified employer. Both government and non-government agency staff are encouraged to apply. The following scholarships are exclusively for current UHM public health students in the MPH, MS, and Ph.D. degree programs.
Applications open Spring 2025 due March 2025
This award is exclusively for public health students who have a professional paper accepted for presentation at a national or international public health meeting held/being held between August 2026—February 2027. Applicants must be current, classified UHM graduate or doctoral students pursuing the MPH, MS, or PhD degree in the Office of Public Health Studies. The award money is to be used to defray travel costs and/or pay for meeting registration fees (up to $1,500).

Cancer Research Education, Advancement, Training and Empowerment (CREATE)
CREATE offers first-year graduate students the opportunity to gain research experience for one semester. Each student will be paired with a faculty mentor to work in Population Sciences in the Pacific or Cancer Biology.

Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health Equity (PIPCHE)
Current master’s and doctoral students at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa are invited to apply for a graduate assistantship made available by the Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health Equity (PIPCHE).

Eligible applicants for the Jeffrey P. Davis Student Scholarship should be a current student in a public health program and be a resident of the United States or U.S territories. Ideal scholarship applicants are students with a concentration in epidemiology. The scholarship will provide funding to attend the CSTE Conference, and includes Conference Registration and hotel stay. Student scholars will be guided by CSTE fellows, meet leaders in applied epidemiology, and explore an array of conference sessions. You can apply through this link.
