Overview: As Exploratory Business/pre-business, in general, you complete Pre-Business Core coursework and most of your general education and graduation requirements in your first two years, then start on your business coursework and any remaining graduation requirements in your last two years. (You'll apply to the business major at the end of sophomore year, and start taking business classes in your third year).
This website is mainly about your first semester.
You can find the workshop at https://manoa.hawaii.edu/welinamanoa/new-student-orientation/students/new-student-advising/
It will take about an hour and will cover how to understand the website used to register for classes (STAR)
If your major is set to Exploratory Business, STAR will "help you" a little by suggesting classes appropriate for an incoming business student.
What if you're not "Exploratory Business?"
If you are NOW decided on business, but applied to UH as a different major or put undecided, you may have a different major listed (also, "Exploratory" is not the same as "Exploratory Business"). So if you are NOW sure you want to study business, you can change your major to Exploratory Business by completing the online major change form
If you're truly undecided still or are leaning toward another major and business is your back-up, you should consult with the advisor for the other major. Many majors have free space for you to delay making a decision for a semester or two, while others might be more rigid, but your advisor can help you decide what might work best for you.
Then just follow the 4 steps in the top menu:
What this site is:
This site is a beta distillation of material from the UHM General Education site and Shidlerʻs Catalog site as an attempt to give only those parts most relevant to an incoming first-year student.
What this is NOT
This site is NOT a guide to an entire 4-year plan and does not cover every situation or rule. It is just to get a new first-year student some initial information enough to make good choices for their fall semester.
It will not replace the semesterly meeting you should have with an academic advisor, nor does it replace the materials in the UHM Catalog.
