The ENSO Winter School 2025 welcomes you to Honolulu!
Venue: The school is hosted on campus at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaiʻi, USA) during 15-23 March, 2025.
More information about the venue (accomodations, etc) will be posted soon.
Registration Fee: To Be Determined.
We are currently in the process of securing funds for reduced or no cost registration to as many students as possible. We encourage students who cannot secure funding from other sources to apply for financial aid, especially those who currently reside in low income (Tier 1) and lower-middle income (Tier 2) countries. Depending on availability of funds, we will notify students of financial aid allocations by December 2024.
The course includes morning lectures in fundamental aspects of ENSO, followed by student-led discussions of seminal papers on each day's theme. The afternoons start with student highlights, where students give short presentations of their own work and interests, followed by lectures and practical sessions or work on projects.
The themes of the school are:
Observations
Theory and modeling
ENSO response to external forcing (past and future)
ENSO Predictability and Prediction
ENSO Processes, Teleconnections & Impacts
