In my project, I am working by myself. The materials that I need for my project are a tablet, the Bloxels app, and a Bloxels box. I plan to create a video game with the Bloxels app, box, and a tablet. Unique properties that my video game will include is interactive gameplay, with a character, map, and other interactive objects that you can play with on the Bloxels app. I will call my game "The Great Escape".
This is the spawn point in the game. You can interact with the two other characters that you are stranded with. To advance in the game, you will move left and meet many obstacles. To move, you use the arrow keys left and right; to jump, press the B button; to shoot, press the A button; to throw any grenades (though there aren't any in my game), pull down on the A button. You can talk to people by pressing the "Talk" button.
This is the second stage, there is a robot that fights you if you took the lower route and a soldier that shoots at you after you take the top route. After you kill the robot on the bottom, you can go through the spikes to avoid the soldier. You could also jump up to the top route from the bottom if you cannot come through the spikes. This level brings the two different paths together.
This is the final level, there are some of your friends at this level here to greet you. You can talk to your friends, who each say different things to you. You can also collect any of the coins seen here. This is the end, or is it? If you look to the left, you can see some breakable blocks.
This is the first example of the obstacles. I decided to give the player a choice in the game. The player could either go up top, a quicker, yet riskier choice, or they could go down to the bottom, which is safer, but takes much more time.
This is the third level, where, after thet two levels meet, you must fight your way out. You are trapped, and the only way out is to get a key to unlock the only door out of here. There are many soldiers on multiple different platforms, and it will probably be best if you defeat them all.
If you decide to break the blocks, you will come to this level, the secret level. Be careful not to fall off when you reach this level, as it is not the safest for our great traveler. Here there is a robot that says "Thank you for playing!" and a bunch of coins that are arranged to spell out "END", as this is the true end of the level.
Using a Bloxels Star Wars Level Building Kit I created a Star Wars level. I created a Star Wars game because I enjoy making things from scratch. Making this game was very new to me, but I am welcome to new experiences.
During this process, I learned how to make my game more complicated and intense by adding more obstacles and enemies. I added things like spikes, water, enemy soldiers, and robots in order to make my game more intense for the player. Adding these obstacles in the game has definitely improved the game very much.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Digital Citizen because I was respective with the technology, and I used it to my interest, Bloxels.
A challenge I overcame on this project was fixing the problem of falling out of the map, because the levels, at first, were very unstable and were easily broken. I was able to fix the holes in the ground by adding another layer of a floor under the mistakingly broken floor. Given a chance to do this again, I would change the size of the level. The reason why I would change it is that I did not spend as much time on the game as I would have liked, so I could not have made it too big.
