Using my pc, the x-carve, and the website Inventables, I created a wood project with my name and sports numbers on it because I would like to put it on my desk at home for decoration.
During this process, I learned how to use the Invetables x-carve and that there is something wrong with the size 16 bits breaking..
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I programmed the x-carve by using the Iventables website and then carving it on there x-carve machine.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the blue bits weren't able to carve in some parts of my project. I was able to do it by changing the bit to the pink ones which are smaller so it could get the smaller spots.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the font of my writing. The reason why I would change it is because the font type made the top of the letters skinnier so we had to put the pink bit on and it broke in the process.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in 3d wood carving modeler.
On Day 1 we worked on our websites. We did our list of 10 Ideas and planning questions. This is what I got done on day 1.
On day 2 I worked on making the design for my sign. It was hard to find and it took a while but this is what I got done on day 2
On Day 3 I watched videos on how to clamp the wood to the x-carve. It took me the whole hour to figure out. But I did figure it out and this is what it turned out to be
On Day 4 we made sure my project is ready to carve. It was ready so we started the carving and this is what I captured. The rest of the hour I added some little things to my project.
On Day 4 we had to put a smaller sized bit on because the bigger bit couldn't get some of the spots I programmed it to. So we ran it again but with the smaller bit.
On Day 6 I was able to see the outcome of my project. What I learned on this day is that there seems to be something wrong with the x-carve using size 16 bits. I wasn't the only one that managed to break it while carving.
This is my final masterpiece that I made on the x-carve. It took some struggling and a lot of googling to find out how to overcome challenges I faced. Although it still turned out to be this wonderful project.
