Reflection
Using the Sphero Edu app and different robots I coded the robots to make different shapes, throw a tire, control a game, and do some other things because we had challenges that we had to complete.
During this process, I learned that coding is way more difficult than it sounds most times. Such as the star I had made with the Sphero Mini. Going into that project I was sure the code would take me less than a day, maybe 10 minutes at max, now that was not the case at all, the star code took me about 2 full class periods to get just right.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I did not code anything useful, nor did I solve any problems, but I did in fact do everything in my power to be earning at all times, even when I was very confused.
A challenge I overcame on this project was learning to code. I was able to do it by asking for help and using all resources I had access to. such as my peers and/or my partner. When I got confused I would ask my partner for help, if they couldn't help me, I would move on to asking my classmates.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the pace at which I was working. The reason why I would change it is because I feel now as if I could have slowed down, and put more effort and thought into some of my codes.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in design, software, hardware, and algorithm engineers. It also connects to any job or career involving robotics and/or coding.
