7P7- Boat building

Using tin foil and the 3d printer, I created a boat because that was my assignment that was given.

During this process, I learned how to create a boat out of tin foil that would hold 450 pennies and a 3d printed boat that could hold 124 pennies .

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to a innovative designer because you learn how to make things out of foil and being a thinker and designer and taking those skills you have to think about what you are doing and also for the 3d boat it is the same because you are being an innovative designer.

A challenge I overcame on this project was building my boat because it was a challenge because i did not know what to do because i did not want it to sink so fast so i made bigger sides. I was able to do it by making thicker sides and making the foil stronger by crumbling the foil and and crumbling it.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change how i made my boat because it didn't really hold like i wanted it to it would have more pennies on one side and when it did sink the boat had more pennies on one side then another . The reason why I would change it is because it could hold more and be more stable then the other ones and with the 3d print i would make my sides bigger so they would have held longer.

This project connect to careers in being a boat designer because you can take the ideas of the boat you made and make new things from the boat you made and make it with real life things that you would make a boat with the 3d boat to you can do the same exact thing.
