Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By my self
What materials will you need for your project?
laser cutter, wood, tinker cad
What is your plan to create in this project?
coin sorter
What unique qualities will your project have?
engineering
Using the laser cutter, I created a coin sorter because I have a lot of mixed-up change.
During this process, I learned if the cad model is not touching the work plane the laser cutter does no see it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I used different technics like the tabs that hold it together.
A challenge I overcame on this project was troubleshooting the cad model so it would cut out right. I was able to do it by lowering the shape into the work plan.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the with. The reason why I would change it is because it is 2 times wider than it needs to be.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Engineering coin sorters for banks.
