Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By my self
What materials will you need for your project?
tinker cad and 3d printer
What is your plan to create in this project?
catapult
What unique qualities will your project have?
elastic energy
Using Tinker CAD, I created a catapult because it uses elastic energy and a lot of other mechanics like pivot points
During this process, I learned how to make a print in two pieces fit together.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project tyes to Knowledge Constructor because I used the flexing in the print to assemble my project.
A challenge I overcame on this project was designing the Catapult so it would clip together. I was able to do it by putting a slit in the middle of the crossbar so it could flex apart.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the crossbar to make it stronger. The reason why I would change it is when I tried to make the rubber band smaller to shoot harder the crossbar broke.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in testing elastic.
