Reflection
Using I Motion and Copilot, my partner and I built a paradise island entirely out of LEGO bricks. We wanted to create something unique—a space where our creativity could shine. From the initial design to the final details, we carefully assembled each piece to bring our vision to life. More than just a LEGO project, it became a shared experience and a symbol of our collaboration.
During this process, I learned the importance of saving my work regularly. Without doing so, all the time and effort put into building could easily be lost. Losing progress taught me to be more mindful and cautious, ensuring that each step was properly saved to avoid setbacks. This simple habit made a big difference and helped me complete the project smoothly.
The seven standards of the class—Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator—each represent key skills for success. My project connects to the Empowered Learner standard because I recognized my mistakes, reflected on them, and made improvements. Through this process, I developed a deeper understanding of how to adapt and grow, reinforcing the importance of learning from experience and applying those lessons to future work.
One of the biggest challenges I faced during this project was losing all of our work when it got deleted. It was frustrating at first, but instead of giving up, I decided to restart and use the experience to improve the design. By reflecting on what went wrong and making adjustments, I was able to rebuild the project even better than before. This setback ultimately became an opportunity for growth, reinforcing the importance of perseverance and adaptability.
If I had the chance to do this again, I would adjust the movement of the characters to be slower. This change would make their motions appear more natural and realistic, enhancing the overall experience. By refining the pacing, the characters would have a more lifelike presence, making the project feel smoother and more immersive. Small adjustments like this can have a big impact, helping to create a more polished and engaging final product.
Hastings High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program provides students with opportunities to explore various fields, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project aligns with the Digital Multimedia program, as it involves creativity, technology, and visual storytelling. Through this experience, I gained valuable skills in digital design and multimedia production, further connecting my work to the principles taught in the program.
My project connects to careers in digital multimedia because it required the use of multiple apps to bring the vision to life. Through this process, I gained experience in combining different digital tools, which is a key skill in the multimedia field. From designing and editing to animation and production, working with various apps helped me understand how professionals in digital multimedia create engaging content. This experience reinforced the importance of technology and creativity in multimedia careers.
