Tool: Cospaces website
List of 25:
This is my whole city. It includes: offices, apartments, skyscrapers, and a garden.
This is a closer view of the garden and some people in it.
This is a little bit of one of the insides of one of the offices.
These photos include my whole coding process. It isn't as much as I had hoped to do, due to the time, but I still did most of what my plan was. My plan was to include a lot more people and hopefully cars but I didn't have enough time.
This is a video of my city in action.
This is my city. Within my city there is apartments, offices, skyscrapers, houses, and a community garden. It includes people, animals, and cars, each interacting in some way. People are in meetings, cars are driving around, people are playing with pets, there is much movement within the environment.
In this project, I learned a lot. I learned so much because I have never used Cospaces before and so I really just tinkered with it and figured it out myself. I learned how to place the objects and how to select them to put them in the coding part of it. Out of it all, I definitely learned how to code with the site. I'm still not perfect with all the controls and I am still learning but out of all, this was what I was most confused with, but I learned. I mostly just put some controls in and tried it out then tinkered with it and if the code didn't work, I would try again with something new until I became happy with how it turned out.
Out of the 7 standards of this class I think that I used innovative designer and digital citizen the most out of all. I say innovative designer the most because I designed this all on my own and came up with all of the features and moving objects myself. Then, I also said digital citizen because I created this online and used online coding.
I overcame a big challenge of not getting frustrated with the coding itself. I can get very frustrated when I don't know how to do something very well and it just doesn't go well. So when I was coding I made a lot of mistakes and I had to redo things to fix them and after a while it can get very time consuming and annoying, but I stuck with it and after awhile I started to get the hang of it and it got less and less confusing and I wasn't frustrated anymore.
I don't know that I would change anything in my city, but I for sure would add more things and detail. That would be the only thing. I would program some more things to move and I would add more people and actions. I would just add more life to the city and make it less boring and typical.
This project connects to careers such as video game designer and an architectural designer. I think that this ties to these careers because they all include stuff with coding and designing something. At the high school, I think that the best class that connects to this is engineering for the same reasons recently stated.
