This graphic highlights our HIS Continuous Improvement Goals for the 2025–2026 school year. At HIS, we hold high expectations for both students and staff as we work together toward excellence. We invite you to partner with us on this journey to make HIS the very best it can be!
Have questions or would like to request a parent teacher conference? These QR codes are available in the front lobby of HIS. You are also welcome to email
whitney.wakefield@hartselletigers.org(6th grade) or anna.stanley@hartselletigers.org(5th grade)
This is a voluntary activity.
If students bring back a lanyard with their code, they will receive their prize. Should the slap bracelet prizes become a distraction or problematic, they will be asked to place them in their lockers. These booklets only require an email address; no door-to-door distribution is needed. Email addresses acquired will be sent a link to the School Store, should anyone want to purchase an item. A percentage of sales goes towards HIS PTO.
Thank you for helping our HIS PTO raise these funds for our school.
Now that lunch routines have been established and are up and running, after Labor Day, parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child on Fridays! Please check in with child's lunch teacher. Check with your child and bell schedule for correct lunch wave times.
Parents can purchase on MySchoolBucks(starting Sept 8) or students can bring $2 to their homeroom teacher the morning of event.
Homecoming Parade

Reminder for Carline in the Mornings:
Parents can use either lane to drop students off in the morning... afternoon pick up needs to be by the student's last name.
Please utilize carline signage. Staff hold the discretion to ask you to pull over to verify pickup/contact. If you need additional carline signage, please email whitney.wakefield@hartselletigers.org.
To simplify the checkout the process and protect instructional time, please see the Pep Rally Tally permission form that will be sent home through homerooms next week. Should you plan for your child to be in attendance, complete form and return to homeroom. Again, this is optional. But, please note the Central Office's expectations for attendance.
Just a reminder — for student check-outs, we do not call students out of class until a parent or guardian has arrived at the school, unless it is an emergency or family matter. Thank you for helping us minimize classroom disruptions.
Proud to announce the 25-26
HARTSELLE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
PARTNER IN EDUCATION
When everyone is on board with the carline procedures, the HIS carline truly is a good carline experience. Below are the written directions with photos and a drone view video for your viewing pleasure.
-We have two afternoon pickup lanes based on student last name.
-You enter both pickup lanes last names A-K (closer to Peck Funeral Home) & last names L-Z (closer to bridge) at the SOUTH end of the stadium(off of Sparkman). See at the aerial pictures/drone footage to see the process for lining up. Due to less space, the A-K line has an overflow line to pull the traffic off of Sparkman(it is by the treeline.)
-When you reach the area around the stadium's main entrance, please be sure to display your STUDENT CAR SIGN. This will be sent home at schedule pickup. This helps our teachers expedite the process and get students in a position for safe pickup.
-Once your line moves up to the student waiting area, be sure to pull up to where your student will be waiting. There will be numbered tiger paws that students will report to and stand on until you come to a stop. For the safety of our staff and students, please drive slowly in this area and be aware of all protocols.
-A-K line exits out WEST only by the traffic light.
-L-Z line exits out NORTH towards the front of the school.
No process is perfect; however, we strive to be at our best every day and serve our students and families excellently! As always, safety is our priority and if you can help us with cordiality with the merging process (specifically A-K side), that will expedite the process. Again, as adults, we want to model #TheTigerWay for our students and children while on campus.
Thank you for your help with this!

All students will receive a hard copy at the start of the school year.
ALL EXCUSES MAY BE EMAILED TO
HIS.Attendance@hartselletigers.org
Regular attendance is essential for student success. Chronic absenteeism is defined by the State Department of Education as 18 or more absences in a school year, regardless of reason. That is equivalent to missing 2 days of school each month.
Early check-out from school interferes with learning. Please arrange appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. All students’ absences shall be designated unexcused until a written excuse is provided to the Registrar/Secretary. Eight parental excuses will be available to use with parents’ discretion (Effective this school year). Excused absences will be permitted for the following reasons: illness, legal requirements, emergencies approved by the principal, and special circumstances with prior approval by the principal. Home visits with the school's SRO may be deemed necessary if unexcused absences hinder a student's learning.
We strive to partner with parents to make school attendance a positive experience each day!
Excused Absence (8 Parent Notes/year)
Illness/Doctor, Hospitalization, Parent Note, Religious, Death of Family Member, Court Subpoena
Unexcused Absences
5 Unexcused Absences- Early Warning Court 7 Unexcused Absences- Truancy Court
We realize that families have times when they must go out of town for various reasons, causing students to miss school. Per Hartselle City School board policy, students/parents must provide an excuse for days that they are absent and seek prior acknowledgment by the school principal for long-term trips. Again, parents have five parent notes each semester that can be applied for these types of absences. Once those absences are used, any absences not requiring a doctor's note will be unexcused and possibly warrant Early Warning Court.
Please email his.attendance@hartselletigers.org or earon.sheats@hartselletigers.org for attendance communication.
Thank you for your help.
