Ebooks are a great way to read. There are many ways to access ebooks for free utilizing libraries.
YHT is just starting to develop its ebook collection (Click here to see our ebooks and database page). Most of the books we have are used to support the curriculum, and are multiuser nonfiction books. We have plans to expand our offerings and work on this collection in the future. Public libraries are the best place to get high quality ebooks, especially for pleasure reading. There are two main programs they use: Overdrive (use the Libby App) and Hoopla. All the local public libraries subscribe to Overdrive and have a large number of ebooks to borrow. Users can search for books on Overdrive or on the user friendly app, Libby. Nassau County libraries also subscribe to Hoopla, an online library with a ton of content. Users get 12 downloads a month. Please note: Any resident in the NY state is qualified for a Queens Public Library card, Brooklyn Public Library card and an NYPL card.
