If you are familiar with online courses, this class could feel comfortable. If this is the first time you will be taking an online course, I encourage you to learn how to use Canvas and to make sure you have reliable internet connection and a reliable computer. Online classes have many advantages, but they are usually time consuming and require students to be organized and able to work independently.
Having solid skills in time management and self-motivation is very important for you to be successful in this class. It will be your responsibility to log into the class to complete assignments, check for new announcements, and review the deadlines listed in the syllabus.
The class will have a number of important concepts that require time and energy to understand, so you will have to study. To successfully complete this online course, you will have to read the information in Canvas, complete assignments, quizzes and exams. There is a significant amount of effort that will be required to pass the class with a solid grade.
Because this is an online course, you are required to master the material outside of a classroom setting. During the weeks in this semester, you will need many hours per week of studying in order to complete the assignments and other work for this class. If you are highly motivated, then this is the course for you. This class will provide you with a good overview to be successful in college, as well as the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of students from many different backgrounds.
You will strive to be an active participant in this course and do your best to meet due dates.
You will maintain and open line of communication with me.
You will contact me when you have concerns.
You will treat your peers with dignity and respect.
