TERM 5 THEME: SHARING THE PLANET
This term, we will be following different lines of inquiry to help us to find out about how “The actions and attitudes of individuals and communities sometimes create peace and conflict.”
Our lines of inquiry include:
Different ways of resolving conflict (perspective)
What we have learnt from previous conflicts (change)
We can all work together to create a peaceful world (responsibility)
The King's Coronation celebrations
On Friday 5th May, we celebrated the Kings Coronation with a picnic, dancing and games. All the children and teachers had a wonderful afternoon.
Wingham Wildlife Park
On Wednesday 17th May, Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous day at Wingham Wildlife Park. They saw many different species of animals, including: giraffes, orangutans, red pandas and an alligator. The giant play park and dinosaur zoo were also very popular.
The Year 3 staff were extremely proud of all the children, they were polite, principled and showed great curiosity throughout the day.
Emergency Services Visitors
This term, Year 3 have had the pleasure of meeting with some of HPA's parents who work for the Police and the Fire and Rescue Service. We have thoroughly enjoyed these visits. The children were keen to share the knowledge they already had of these services, as well as learn more about the different job roles and how they help to keep us safe. During the visits, Year 3 were able to sit inside a police car and find out about the different parts of a firefighter's uniform. Mrs Welch raced against the clock to put the firefighter uniform on in record time - she was fantastic!
We would like to say a huge thank you to our visitors, from all of Year 3.
Marvellous Magnets
In science, Year 3 have been learning about forces and magnets. We have been investigating magnet strength and we used a magnet to make a paperclip float in the air! We also investigated predictions on whether two magnets will attract or repel, depending on which poles are facing.
Peace Posters
This term in Design and Technology we designed a poster to promote world peace with a mechanism that includes a lever with a linkage. Once we designed our poster we created a prototype mechanism to test our ideas before making our final product. We are very proud of our eye-catching posters.
