On Monday 20th March Year 2 visited Kent Life. The children visited the Victorian Schoolroom and had a great time at the playground and meeting all the farm animals.
As part of our Unit of Inquiry this term, the children in year 2 have been learning about education around the world. We have recently learned about schools in Kenya and some of the barriers to education that the children in this country face.
The children decided that they would like to organise and run a fundraiser to raise money for schools in Africa. The chosen charity is ‘African Promise’, a small charity working to improve the quality of education in rural Kenyan primary schools by ensuring that schools are equipped to deliver an education worth having. On Thursday 30th March the children completed a sponsored sports afternoon. They came to school dressed as their favourite athletes and spent the whole afternoon completing sports activities. So far they have raised £400! Well done year 2!
