Year 11
'Get Further Ahead'

Activity 1 - Analysing Crimes - Alex Skeel

When studying Unit 1, there are a number of types of crimes that will be covered and in assessments you will be expected to analyse these crimes. In order to correctly analyse a type of crime you must ensure you can provide the following;

Define the type of crime along with examples
Type of victim
Type of offender
The level of public awareness
State whether the crime is a criminal act, deviant act or both

To get you further ahead and ready for September, it would be great for you to start analysing crimes!

The first crime I would like you to attempt to analyse is Domestic Abuse which is categorised as an 'Individual Crime' in Criminology.

Please use the link below to watch the documentary regarding the remarkable story of Alex Skeel. Bedfordshire Police described Alex's case as one of the most extreme cases of domestic violence they had ever dealt with.

Once you have watched the documentary, please attempt to cover each of the analytical points above and you can even send it across to me for some feedback! My email address is jessica.citro@hartlepoolsixth.ac.uk
