Hartland High School Ensembles
Throughout the year, the bands include 250 students. Marching band starts off the academic year with a week of band camp and continuing after-school practices. The group performs a halftime show at each home football game. They also perform in two annual parades and are able to take an optional band trip for a clinic/performance experience every other academic year. Color Guard is another option for students during the marching season.
During the concert season, the students work separately as five different bands, divided up largely by class year. Some flexibility in membership is present to ensure that students are adequately challenged. There may also be adjustments in order to make sure each ensemble is complete in its instrumental membership, essential to a balanced sound. Students leaning toward music as a career are often in more than one ensemble.
