What did Rutherford contribute to the understanding of the atom?
In 1911, Rutherford's contribution was the first discovery that atoms is a positive nucleus that is much smaller than the actual atom.
What experiments did Rutherford do?
Rutherfords most famous experiemnt was the gold foil experiement because the beam of the alpha particles was targeted at the gold foil.
fun fact #1: Rutherford received his first science book at age 10.
fun fact #2: A piece of gold foil was hit with alpha particles, which have a positive charge. Most alpha particles went right through.
fun fact #3: The element 'Rutherfordium' was named in Rutherford's honour.
