Purpose:  The purpose of this experiment is to accurately determine the density of a regular solid, irregularly shaped solid, colored water, and unknown liquid.

Hypothesis: If the mass and volume of a substance are measured and displayed graphically, then the density of the substance can be determined because the slope of a volume vs mass graph is density.

Variables:

IV:  Volume of the substances

DV: Mass of the substances

Control: The accepted published density of the substance

Materials/: graduated cylinders, glass bead sample, blocks, ruler, colored water, unknown liquid, pipette

Safety: Be very careful when dropping the metal objects into the glass cylinder, they can break easily.
