Honors Entrepreneurship is a CTE pathway course offered at Valencia High School and online through CCR. Taught by an experienced instructor, the course focuses on developing the essential skills and knowledge needed to launch and manage a successful business. Students explore a wide range of topics, including market research, product development, marketing, finance, and business management. In addition, students gain hands-on experience through real-world projects that sharpen their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with opportunities to participate in DECA for further enrichment.
A Career and Technical Education (CTE) course is a specialized program designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge for careers in specific industries or trades. CTE is organized into different “pathways,” each focused on a particular field—such as business, finance, health sciences, engineering, information technology, and many more. These pathways allow students to explore career options aligned with their interests while gaining hands-on, real-world experience. By taking CTE courses, students build both academic and technical expertise, giving them a competitive advantage as they prepare for college or enter the workforce.
WHAT IS THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP/SELF-EMPLOYMENT CTE PATHWAY?
The CTE entrepreneurship/self-employment pathway is a specialized program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to excel in the business world. While the primary focus is on preparing students for self-employment, the acquired knowledge and skills are applicable to any career field. By participating in this pathway, students develop their leadership skills, enhance their communication abilities, and learn how to take initiative, which ultimately leads to increased self-confidence.
Along with the technical skills and practical experience, the CTE entrepreneurship/self-employment program emphasizes the importance of essential soft skills such as problem-solving, and teamwork. These skills are crucial for success in any career, but are particularly critical for entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals who must adapt and navigate complex business environments. To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the business world, the program also offers networking opportunities through field trips and guest speakers.
