Rio Norte's NJHS Chapter
Rio Norte Junior High School is proud to be an affiliated chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The purpose of NJHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; to encourage responsible citizenship; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Membership in the Rio Norte JHS Chapter is open to all students who meet the membership criteria in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. The faculty council and adviser approve the candidates based on the criteria below.
Selection Procedure Description for Rio Norte’s NJHS Membership
The Candidate Form is to be submitted by by Friday, November 3rd by 3pm. Incomplete forms, even if turned in before the deadline, will not be accepted. Responsibility is a key part of citizenship, and an essential part of NJHS, NO late forms submitted will be accepted. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 (Grades will be verified every quarter by NJHS adviser, Mrs. Lisa James)
Mandatory 10 hours of community service
Commit to participate in Rio Norte’s NJHS annual service project, and to attend all of Rio Norte’s NJHS Chapter meetings.
To remain in NJHS through each of the quarters, your G.P.A must remain at 3.7, and you must remain in good standing as a model citizen at Rio Norte.
Thank you for your interest. Students that complete the electronic membership candidate form will be getting an email from the advisor, Mrs. Lisa James by November 3rd, 4pm on their status with Rio Norte’s NJHS chapter after review of their candidate form and verification of grades.
