Elective Classes - These are courses for which students apply or audition. These courses include ASB (student government), La Mesa Live, Yearbook, Advanced ASL, and Intermediate and Advanced Bands.  Choir and Beginning Band, however, welcome any student regardless of experience. 8th grade students can also sign up to be a peer tutor in our special education classrooms. 

Support Classes - Students who need additional support are placed into support classes. These include Achieve (English Learners), Resource Study Skills (special education), and Learning Strategies (special education).

Exploratory Classes - Students who are not in a an elective or do not need a support class  will be placed into an exploratory elective class. These are not chosen. The purpose of an exploratory elective is for students to EXPLORE areas they might not normally choose.  These classes may include culinary, art, drama, STEM, Sign Language, or Engineering. Other exploratory classes are added based on our staffing each year. Exploratory classes are semester-long.
