Exploratory engineering is an entry level course to the engineering pathway that students may encounter in high school. This course will develop student’s ability to visualize, design and draw mechanical drawings, create prototypes to discover solutions to common problems. It will also provide students with the abilities, necessary tools and software in order to create mechanical designs. Additionally, students will learn the terminology and procedures related to engineering.
Exploring STEM Careers is a course that puts students through different career oriented modules. These modules create real career scenario to create an understanding of what career professionals may face when they are at work. This program is meant to engage students in authentic problem-based learning experiences to help them discover their interest and aptitudes.
About me
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is Mr. Cruz and I am the La Mesa Jr. High School STEM & Engineering teacher. I began working at La Mesa Jr. High School during the 2021-2022 school year and prior to that I worked at Canoga Park High School . Prior to this, I was in the aerospace industry, private aviation sector and the United States Army as an AH-64A/D Helicopter Mechanic. I bring a lot of field experience into the classroom and apply it to the course curriculum.
I hold Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
