Carrie Cutchall-Rocha Memorial Scholarship Application

DEADLINE:  Due April 26, 2024

Carrie Cutchall-Rocha was a teacher in the Sulphur Springs School District for 33

years. She helped mold the hearts and minds of over 1,000 students in her entire

teaching career. This scholarship was created to honor her amazing teaching career as

well as recognize someone who has worked tremendously hard throughout their high

school career. Mrs. Cutchall-Rocha left an everlasting mark on all our hearts and will

be deeply missed by so many.

Santa Clarita Valley Association of CA School Administrators Scholarship

DEADLINE:  May 3, 2024 

Amount $500

The Santa Clarita Valley Association of California School Administrators (SCV ACSA) is a formal group of elementary, junior high, and high school administrators from all school districts in the Santa Clarita Valley.  Our scholarship is designed to provide for the future, as well as to connect with the past. The recipients of the scholarships will each be awarded $500.00.  We will be awarding 8 scholarships in total from each of the seven (7) comprehensive high schools, one senior from either Academy of the Canyons,  Bowman, Learning Post, and Sequoia. 


The following is designed specifically to help you through the application process.


Criteria:

Applicants must have attended Santa Clarita Valley schools for at least seven years, including at least one year at a public elementary school in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Applicants must have already applied for admittance into a trade school, community college, and/or four-year college/university.

Applicants must have a current Unweighted GPA of at least 2.5.


APPLICANT DEADLINE: Monday, May 3, 2024


Process:

The application has three components:

An essay written by the applicant:  One page, single-spaced (typed; 12 pt. font) addressing the following topic: 

ESSAY TOPIC: 

Tell us about a significant experience you had while attending a Santa Clarita-area public school that had a profound impact on your personal growth. Identify a specific Santa Clarita Valley public school educator who played a role in this experience, whether from elementary, junior high, or high school. Explain why this experience was meaningful to you and how this educator's actions or guidance influenced your personal growth. Share specific examples or anecdotes that demonstrate the unique and personal impact this educator had on your life.

The Future Leaders Scholarship awarded by the NAACP Santa Clarita 

The Future Leaders Scholarship is awarded by NAACP Santa Clarita to African American/Black students residing in the Santa Clarita Valley who are pursuing higher education.

Scholarship amount: $2,000

Number of awards: 5

Due: 5/15/24 

The Award is not renewable. 


Criteria and Eligibility for the Future Leaders Scholarship:

 

•    Must be a NAACP Santa Clarita member

•    African American/Black resident of the Santa Clarita Valley

•    A high school senior or undergraduate student of the 2023/2024 school year graduating class.

•    Grade point average of 2.5 (C+) or above

•    Provide an unofficial copy of high school or undergraduate transcripts.

•    Complete the Essay requirements:

 

Students may apply to multiple scholarships but are not eligible to receive more than one NAACP scholarship annually.

SCV Education Foundation Scholarship

AMOUNT: $10,000 in scholarships to be awarded


This scholarship opportunity is for seniors who are pursuing a career in education as a teacher, librarian, counselor, speech therapist or Resource Specialist.

AMOUNT: $1,000

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the "Kochhar & Co. Scholarship" a student must:

1) Be attending college or university on a full-time or part-time basis no later than September 2024.

2) Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year.

3) Submit an answer to the essay question no later than 11:59 PM EST on the day of the deadline.

4) Be a resident of one of the following countries:

A) Canada

B) United States

*Note that you can be enrolled in any field of study.


Essay Question:

In under 1000 words, please answer only ONE of the following questions:

1) "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for a Company?"

2) "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for an Individual?"

Every essay must follow basic rules of format and grammar. Every paper must contain a beginning (introductory paragraph), a middle (several supporting paragraphs that comprise the body of the paper), and an end (concluding paragraph). Grammar is vital for essay composition. Sentence fragments, misspellings, and improper punctuation denote a carelessly-written and poorly-conceived paper. Lastly, if you are going to quote a source word for word, please ensure you cite your source using MLA or APA formatting.
