This is an image of the final product I made with the guidance of my grandpa. Click through to see the process.
Over all four years at Harrison High School, I studied Design and Drawing for Production (DDP). I started with Intro to DDP and am proud to finish the sequence with the most advanced level of the course offered to seniors.
The program gives me the chance to turn the creative designs in my mind into real projects I can build with my hands and is a love that began with my grandpa. During COVID, I had the idea to build a bench from reclaimed wood at his house. We walked through the property looking for timber that had already fallen and found sturdy vines to use as part of the frame. That project became more than a bench—it was time spent together, creating something lasting out of what was already there.
I am currently working on a project that carries that same inspiration. I am in the beginning stages of designing a waterfall table from reclaimed wood, combining design, craftsmanship, and creativity—all the while knowing that with the completion of each step in the process, I am reminded of where this passion began: with my grandpa.
While embracing reclaimed wood as my material, I am also practicing ethically responsible woodworking. Using what already exists instead of cutting down new trees is my way of protecting the environment and showing respect for natural resources. It’s an extension of how I approach fishing—taking only what’s needed, giving back where possible, and leaving nature better than I found it. For me, every project is a reminder that creativity and responsibility can coexist. I hope you enjoy.
This is my inspiration for the waterfall table I will make this year as my final culminating DDP project. I will find reclaimed/repurposed wood to bring this idea to fruition.
This piece is very special to me. It hangs in my grandparents' house. I made this for my grandpa to honor his military service and love of country.
Making wood wire pizza is a fun family activity in our home. That is why for Father's Day I surprised my dad with a Pizza Peel. It was one of the projects highlighted for complexity at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. I was very proud of this piece.
Not only did I make the charcuterie board, but I also created the presentation of meats, cheese, dried fruits and nuts.
The final product, designed with LED lighting. My dog Judge loved the space.
