Scholarship Information

Where do I even start?

The most common place to get scholarships is from the institution you will be attending.  Look on their website for their scholarships; for some you will have to apply; for others, they will automatically screen you when you apply for admission.

Then look around at your life for places that may offer scholarships--where your parent works, your church, organizations your parents belong to, hobby clubs, etc.

Then, there are thousands and thousands on the web.  You will get out of it what you put into it.  It takes time and patience to apply, and there are no guarantees, which is why so many are never applied for.  Harris County local scholarships become available in late February and March.

Each month, I will place a list of some scholarships for which you can apply on this page. It is certainly not an exhaustive list, but it can get you started.

Searching for Scholarships

Here is a list of search engines you can use when searching for scholarships.  I do not recommend using any kind of search you have to pay for.  There are just too many free ways to search.  I would recommend that you keep a paper on file where you tell about yourself and the plans you have for your future.  Then you can just modify it to go with the specific scholarship to which you are applying.
