FAFSA

What is FAFSA?  FAFSA is how you get federal financial aid for school---MONEY! If you are even considering continuing your education in college or technical school, fill out the FAFSA.  There is no harm in filling it out even if you decide later that you don't want to attend school.  If you want to go to college or technical school but don't think you can afford it, fill out the FAFSA and come talk to me!  You will likely be surprised at the many ways you can get financial help for school. The soonest you can fill out the FAFSA is October 1.  Please note that for the class of 2024, FAFSA is changing and will not open until December or January. In this section, I am going to put links to some videos that can help you and your parents fill out the FAFSA. Another reason to fill out the FAFSA is that it's the main way you 'apply' for HOPE Scholarship (see gafutures for the other way).  Gafutures has an extremely helpful section on FAFSA. There is a video that gives you an overview of FAFSA, as well as videos to help you fill it out.  Fill out the FAFSA here.

Think school is not an option due to the money? Think again!  Going to technical school is a GREAT option for students who think they can't afford to continue their education. Whether you are seeking a degree, a certificate, or a diploma, technical schools offer many affordable ways to make school possible.  Using the HOPE Grant and the HOPE Career Grant can make technical school practically free!

The attached PDF was made by the Financial Aid Office of Columbus Tech and does a good job of showing how affordable technical school can be.  Please see me if you have further questions about the information here.
