Take time to review all of the required section and prepare your answers for each before submitting your online form.

You should nominate one person to be the main point of contact between HospitalityUnite and your business. They should be the person responsible for recruiting and onboarding any Kickstart employees.

  • A list of all locations you intend to place successful Kickstart applicants at (e.g. The Ivy Collection - Canary Wharf).

3. Why Kickstart

In order to successfully register for a Kickstart grant, you need to explain how your jobs are just for the Kickstart scheme and aren’t replacing any previous roles.

You will need to explain how these jobs:

  • Will be funded fully by the Kickstart Scheme grant and would not exist without the Kickstart funding

  • Will be paid from the grant money for the 25 hours per week on National Minimum Wage

  • Are not replacing existing or planned vacancies

  • Are not causing existing employees or contractors to lose or reduce their employment.

4. Kickstart Training

It is compulsory to show the DWP that you have spent your £1500 funding on training your Kickstarters, along with other setup costs.

HospitalityUnite in partnership with Springboard will be offering employability training (including CV writing, interview skills etc), teamwork skills and some basic employability needs through the Harri platform or partners' platforms. Please see our FAQs for more information on the training that will be offered by Springboard.

We will also need the details of how you will also support these young people once in their roles at your business over the 6 months of their placement.

You need to show us how your Kickstart Scheme job placements will help them get basic work skills, which includes:

  • Attendance

  • Timekeeping

  • Communication

  • Teamwork

  • Travelling to work

Kickstart participants must be supported with the following employability skills:

  • CV and interview skills

  • Looking for long term work.

5. Kickstart Jobs

Now that we know all about your business and why you want to use Kickstart, it's time to tell us all about the roles specifically.

  • How many job placements are you planning to create for the Kickstart scheme?

  • What position and how many of each position will be available? (e.g. 10 x Waiter/Waitress, 5 x Cleaner, 5 x Supervisor Trainee)

  • Where will your job placements be based?

  • Please provide a brief (100-200 words) overview of the responsibilities of each specific job you are advertising (each job to be separated by a paragraph space).
