Youth Ambassador Program
As an Ambassador, we would join monthly meetings and speak with different Red Cross leaders to discuss more extensive opportunities.
We also get the opportunity to learn from college and university representatives about resumes, volunteering, community outreach, etc.
I believe this program does the best at maintaining the values of leadership, communication, and community service and provides an opportunity for networking.
There's a lot more that youth volunteers can do by attending online training. As for the classes on EDGE, I took 3 as they are essential for the ambassador program, all of them free and at-your-own-pace. They go over how to accurately and appropriately aid during natural disasters, public affairs, and the service they provide toward the armed forces.
I entered a program once where I needed to call different local families and ask if they needed or wanted a fire alarm for their homes. Red Cross gave me a script and google phone number so I could reach out and make sure everyone was contacted and given all the necessary information.
The American Red Cross has many ways individual youth volunteers can get involved with our organization. We focus on professional development, resume building, academic credit, and virtual community involvement.
Data Gurus (supporting data projects for all Lines of Business)
Communication (write and volunteer with our public affairs team)
Preparedness (those who are 16 years and older can help virtually educate the community of how we prepare, respond, and recover for disasters)
Service to the Armed Forces making Thank-a-Hero cards for our veteran community
We will also have our International Humanitarian Law—Youth Action Campaign launching soon with our Service to the Armed Forces Department (once I have the flyers and information I will send your way)
Youth Ambassador Program which has youth from our 83- counties. We meet once a month and have workshops, guest speakers, trivia nights.
