Conflict is a normal part of growing up—and learning how to resolve it is a vital life skill. At Rock Cut, we don’t just manage conflict—we teach students how to navigate it in healthy, respectful, and productive ways. This page explains how we support students in resolving conflicts and how you can help at home.
Conflicts happen because of misunderstandings, peer pressure, miscommunication, and differences in values or interests.
Social media often amplifies conflicts by spreading rumors or intensifying peer drama.
Aggression is not a solution—it escalates problems and creates emotional harm.
We use Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to teach students:
Emotional awareness and self-regulation
Communication and listening skills
Perspective-taking and empathy
We use Restorative Practices to:
Help students take accountability
Guide them in making amends
Repair damaged relationships through conversation
De-escalation techniques are taught to all students:
Staying calm and using “I” statements
Walking away to cool down
Asking an adult or peer mediator for help
✅ Talk with your child about how they handle conflict with friends or classmates.
✅ Model healthy conflict resolution in your own relationships.
✅ Set limits on social media use and talk about online behavior.
✅ Encourage your child to ask for help if a situation is too big to handle alone.
✅ Reinforce the use of “I feel…” statements and respectful listening.
