Seniors,
We hope that you enjoyed the Campus Night website last night and recorded messages - congratulations to everyone receiving a scholarship, award, and/or credential.
Tonight there will be a celebration video for the Class of 2020 at 7:00 pm. We will also have faculty/staff in various Zoom Rooms for you to drop into and say hello, goodbye, thanks, fun memories, etc. between 7-8 pm. To access the Google Document, you will need to sign in with your school email to see the various links to the Zoom rooms and what teachers will be around.
As the days go by with swiftness that forms the passing years, to our dear old alma mater, we raise our songs and cheers…
This time last year, you were looking ahead to your senior year - the pinnacle of your education was on the horizon and planning was underway for your different courses, activities, leadership opportunities, and time together: control of the commons, senior privileges, and bearers of the spirit stick! The world felt wide open and free with endless possibilities for you and your friends. The days have certainly gone by with swiftness as we reflect on what all you have accomplished up to this point. While we may not be together inside the halls of the high school, we will always sing and cheer for the Class of 2020!
To old high we pledge our favor no honor shall She lack, while we pledge ourselves defenders of the Orange and Black…
We want you to know that the entire Hanover community is thinking of the Class of 2020. We see you, we support you, and we know that this senior class will be closer and stronger than ever, and no one will ever doubt the honor and pride you all continue to show.
When the cares of life overtake us and our locks are tinged with gray, our deepest hopes betray us, false fortunes fall away...
Well, your locks are not gray, but some of ours certainly are! We also know that in these times, you may be feeling betrayed and that the fortunes that come with the end of your senior year have fallen away. You are right - everything is different and it all changed in such a short period of time. As your advisors, we want you to know that we are grieving these losses with you and you are not alone. As an entire faculty, it is our deepest hope each year to see you dressed up and dancing at prom, wearing a cap and gown while touching the Oak tree and walking across the stage. You are not alone. We know how much this all matters to you, and we will do all we can to support you.
We can banish care and sadness and turn our memories back and recall the days of gladness neath the Orange and the Black…
We know that for today there are no easy answers, but as your advisors, your teachers, and the entire faculty and staff of Hanover High School, we will do everything we can to support you and provide you with opportunities to create more positive memories in these coming weeks. We will also continue to prepare for the end of the school year - awards and recognitions, end of year ceremonies, a talent show, and graduation, regardless of what form these all take. We will continue to create memories while also turning back to recall this incredible senior class.
As Gandalf says in The Lord of the Rings: “End? No, the journey doesn’t end here…”.
We want you to know that this is a journey none of us will ever forget, and we are here with you as a true Nighthawk community.
