Class of 2020 History
Congratulations to the class of 2020! This is the year we have been waiting for since August 2006, where we started our journey together. Although this year may not have turned out the way we dreamed it to be, let’s flashback to see everything we have accomplished.
From Clearview, Hanover Street, or Washington, we all created life long memories with our elementary school friends and anxiously waited for the arrival of Middle School. To pass the time we collected silly bands, performed catchy songs with Mrs. Hahn, played with Beyblades, and enjoyed many fun games at Recess.
Just like that, our elementary years ended and we were sent off to Middle School. We had no idea what to expect or who we would meet, but we easily made it work. As all three schools joined to one, we thrived in this hectic environment while being surrounded by our best friends. Together we experienced Colonial Days, J.A Biztown, Olympic Days, and the highly anticipated Orange and Black day. We all ran, or walked, the Gobble Gait and danced the night away at the Snowball Dance our 7th and 8th grade years. Once again, we let the time slip through our fingers and somehow we were celebrating our 8th Grade Graduation. Pushing right ahead, we spent the summer preparing for the new adventures that High School would bring us.
Our first class project started fall of freshman year, where we had to build a homecoming float. We worked on homecoming floats each year, winning first place for Under the Sea and Monster’s Inc. We also participated in our Drama Night, where our class put together fun skits to entertain the crowd and other classes.
Freshman year, we watched fellow classmates star on stage in the fall production of Elf, and the spring musical Les Miserables, where Izzy Oropeza, Luke Mumma, and Ben Newman got a taste of high school lead roles for the first time. Our class has held a strong presence within the theater department, winning “Best Overall” for our performance of Les Mis and Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we showed strong solo presences, as Izzy won Best Female Actress. In the fall we enjoyed shows Metamorphoses, Aladdin Jr., and Lion King Jr. In the spring we watched as they purrfectly executed the show Cats, and we looked forward to watching Evita.
Athletically, members of our class have helped varsity teams for every sport compete in county and district competitions. Congratulations to classmates Chloe Asper, Elizabeth Krenzer, Savannah Disney, Colby Peterson, and Kardan Trish who are going on to compete at the collegiate level in their respected sports of gymnastics, field hockey, volleyball, baseball, and wrestling.
Our class has academically challenged ourselves through multiple AP courses and have achieved specialized certifications for NOCTI, Robotics, Music Technology, and a newly made Drone Course. Hanover has provided a multitude of courses for any interest. With the help of our Administration, there never seemed to be a limitation to the career based experiences many students needed. During our senior year, many classmates have taken advantage of various internships within desired career paths.
Our class has also been strongly involved in student led groups such as NHS, NAHS, Diversity Alliance, Student Council, Key Club, and Link Crew, where we have served our school and community. Members of our class have also created events of their own such as Emily Crouse’s Fundraiser Event for the Malala Fund, Kardan Trish’s event to bring awareness to Suicide, and the Powder Puff Volleyball led by Nakhiaya Jacobs.
I also would like to recognize Logan Rahe, Meghan Stremmel, Nick Plakas, and anyone else who has enlisted to serve in the military. We can’t thank you enough for your service to our country.
Although we will be going our separate ways soon enough, we will always look back on the great times we shared together for the past 13 years. The moment we all have been waiting for is right before us, and I am so happy to be apart of the resilient, dedicated, and jovial Class of 2020. We made it.
